Mermaid Waterproof Wall Panels come in three widths. However, their construction differs in regard to their edges. Please note that 900mm and 1200mm Shower Wall panels have limited applications, in particular shower enclosures - hence the name. Bathroom Panel 600mm wide 2400mm long Tongue-and-Groove to long edges for concealed fixing and a neat joint. The short edges are chamfered to form a "drip nose". |
Hi-ShowerWall Panel 900mm wide 2400mm long One long edge is square to fit into the corner profile. The other edge has a fixing lip with a groove, as on the Bathroom Panel, to accept further 600mm Bathroom Panels. The short edges are chamfered to form a "drip nose". |
Wide ShowerWall Panel 1200mm wide 2400mm long All edges are square edged and therefore cannot be joined to any other panel, except by means of a corner profile. These panels are for use in wide shower enclosures up to 1200mm. The format of Wide ShowerWall panels is changing - as new colours are introduced, and as existing stock is exhausted, 1200mm Wide ShowerWall panels will come with a square edge and a fixing lip the same as the 900mm Hi-Showerwall panels. At present 1200mm Wide ShowerWall panels may be supplied in either format subject to availability. It is NOT possible to specify which format you would like. |

Mermaid panels are very easy to fit - in fact much easier than tiles. No special equipment is needed, just normal woodworking tools. Nor will you need to worry about Mermaid panels cracking or chipping like tiles - and what's more, a large area can be covered in a fraction of the time it would take to tile the same area. Best of all, no messy grouting is needed, so you can use the bathroom or shower virtually straight away - and you'll have no more problems with unpleasant and unhtgenic mould penetration. You can fit Mermaid to most types of wall, including brick, block or concrete walls; to plasterboard; to studwork; and even over the top of existing ceramic tiles. |
| In the bathroom start fitting Mermaid 600mm Bathroom panels in one corner and continue round both sides of the room so that you finish over the door. You'll have no trouble drilling the panels for mirrors or cabinets - and unlike with tiles, you've no need to worry that Mermaid panels will crack whilst you're drilling them. |
| In the shower Mermaid panels can be used in either a 2-sided (corner) enclosure or a 3-sided (recessed) enclosure. There are two sizes of Shower Wall panels available to perfectly fit most shower trays, ensuring that the only join line will be at the corners - where you will use a decorative corner profile in a co-ordinated colour or chrome plated aluminium, to conceal the join. |
The 900mm Hi-ShowerWall panels can be invisibly fixed to the wall through the fixing lip. With the 1200mm Wide ShowerWall panel, you would face fix through the panel, ensuring that the screws will be hidden by the profiles of the shower enclosure. Alternatively you could use Norske Multi-Purpose Adhesive to securely fix the ShowerWall panel to the wall. |
Adhesive Mermaid panels are normally fitted to the wall with concealed fixings (screws or nails). However, where the use of mechanical fixing is limited, and as additional attachment, adhesive can also be used, particularly with 900mm Hi-ShowerWall and 1200mm Wide ShowerWall panels. When installing 600mm tongue and grooved panels adhesive should be used behind the fixing lip if nailing, and can be used to secure the final panel piece above the door. |

Profiles The internal and external corner profiles use a revolutionary 2-part self-sealing Click Seal profile system that requires no sealant. The unique design incorporates a PVC back section and either a PVC colour co-ordinated, or a polished chrome aluminium, decorative face section. Quick and easy to use, the two parts of the system simply click togwther with the Mermaid Waterproof Panel between. A self-adhesive barrier tape on the inside of the profile creates watertight joint. |
Transeal Bottom Seal Profile In conventional installations using tiles leaks often occur as the seal between the bath, or shower tray, and the wall breaks down due to movement in use. With Mermaid wall panels and Transeal bottom seal system this need never happen. The innovative Mermaid Transeal bottom seal system has been specially designed to accommodate expansion and contraction. The patented profile and a special formulation sealant combine together to offer the ultimate in leak-proof installation that allows for a shower tray to drop as much as 10mm and yet still remain watertight. |
Edging Profile The outer edge of Mermaid panels can be fited with an edging profile to give a neat co-ordinated finish to exposed edges. |
Coloured Sealant On long shower walls, or around an entire bathroom, you would use tongue and groove panels. For a neat join a high quality sealant is available to ensure a co-ordinated and waterproof seal. Mermaid sealant is a superior sanitary grade silicon with fungicide that outperforms standard sealants. Mermaid sealant is available to co-ordinate with all panel colours. |
